Re: Weird comment at work...am I overreacting?
(Anonymous) 2013-03-26 12:59 am (UTC)(link)And, one such early weekend at closing, when we finally had to go shoo a lady, and all of her stuff, out of one of our meeting rooms because she refused to leave on her own. Our notice that the library was closed was met with a 'Well some of us have real jobs that can't be limited to your 9-5 hours!'.
...We told her she was welcome to run her real business from her car in the parking lot if she still needed wifi. XD
So, yes, the real job comment was rude. But take it with a grain of salt 'cause chances are she just wanted to make her job feel more 'real' by insulting yours.

Win.
Re: Weird comment at work...am I overreacting?
(Anonymous) 2013-03-26 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)Haha, what. Okay, so what with things being they way they are, a lot of people don't get to work 9-5 anymore ever (or 8-5, as has always been my experience in offices), but still, does she think that the other, I dunno, 80% of the work force does work real jobs? That people back in the '60s (or whenever 9-5 was last A Thing) all not have 'real jobs'?
I'd say I hoped it occurred to her how dumb that comment was, but I'm sure it won't, just as she won't realize how rude it was.
