Re: I don't understand all the hate

Well, that's kind of dark. I didn't know there was such a thing as hate for people who think that way though.

Anyway, I think that (though a bit paranoid) this is a generally valid POV. Medicine is a business and at the end of the day your doctor is there to get a paycheck. Sure a lot are genuinely good people who love their job, but they all have an agenda the same as anyone else.

I agree, it is naive to think doctors all value all life equally. They're people too, and they do pick and choose where and when to put their time - that's why you can end up sitting in an exam room for 45 minutes before you see the doctor. There isn't always a line of patients before you or a stroke going on, sometimes they get caught up with some paperwork they deem more important.

I noticed a good bit of vitriol directed at "selfish" people who "want to hang onto their organs when they're dead" in the abortion thread yesterday.

Really? I probably didn't read all the comments, just want to make sure you didn't misread what I said as deriding people for having concerns about organ donation?

Your doctor doesn't get paid per saved patient, though. They get payed per [time] working at the clinic, and they'll probably do that for longer by playing by the rules.
