I feel like Jared mostly phones it in, but he has few and far between flashes of absolute brilliance. He gets much better when he doesn't have to play Sam straight, tbh. I feel like Jensen is always solid, but what was brilliant in the first seasons, he has to do so much that it's tired now, and he looks tired doing it. He also likes not paying Dean so OTT in either stoicness/emotionalness. He likes when he gets to be subtle.
