Never done this quest but I had to stop playing for a few days when my character joined the Dark Brotherhood. I entered the main room, listened to everyone talking and though "oh god there are a bunch of psychopaths, I don't belong here"

I got over it eventually :). You can always make another character and make choices you're more comfortable here, nobody should tell you that you should do everything.

Meeting the DB made me feel the opposite of you. Finally, a group of assassins that act as such. I was happy there. I just disliked their crappy armor (looks only mind you and I haven't found a mod that I like to replace it) and that I couldn't bed Astrid.

Aha, that one kinda miffed me too. I didn't wanna off someone who wanted to help me gdi. I tried using one of the Dark Brotherhood initiates but the game was all "haha nope." I think I just ended up using a nameless mercenary or smthn.

I think what got me though (in a similar vein) was the Daedric quest in Dawnstar. Cool staff! You recharge it on dreams! Daedric achievement! But on the other hand I didn't want to kill that badass Dunmer mage who was going through the tower with me. 8( I couldn't do it. On the bright side he's a p good follower.

Yeah, Erandur was the one where I finally just went, "welp, looks like I'm not getting that achievement." Nothing in that game has made me feel like a scumbag like the Daedric quests, not even the DB storyline.

I can't remember which Daedric quest it was that I just couldn't bring myself to do, but I think it ended up being okay because I managed to get both of the artifacts from that... werewolf guy one.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-27 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
Didn't really like killing Erandur for that achievement, or that priest of Arkay. Making Eola get stuck to Boethiah's pillar made it alllll better.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-26 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Which quest is this OP?

(Anonymous) 2013-03-26 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Boethiah's calling

(Anonymous) 2013-03-27 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you!

Can anyone tell me what this is all about? I've thought about giving Skyrim a chance, and this sounds intriguing. (Spoilers totally okay, obviously!)

(Anonymous) 2013-03-26 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
It's one of the game's Daedric quests, which usually involve you doing horrible things (sometimes to characters who you know and trust) in exchange for powerful artifacts. I haven't played the one in the secret, but from what I remember it involves sacrificing one of your followers.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-27 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
If you're not using Eola for that, I find sacrificing one of those jerks trying to manipulate Camilla in Riverwood works pretty well.

i haven't done this quest yet, mostly out of laziness and i don't care about the reward lol. it's just a game, so.....don't feel so bad? trust, these characters have been killed 100 times over, in probably worse ways, in other peoples games.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-27 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Even though I haven't visited the Dark Brotherhood yet (was 'invited' too), I regret not refusing them. I wanted to do that quest-line for the achievement/weapons/storyline but it doesn't make sense of my character. I'll probably just avoid it for the rest of the game...

Anyway, if you don't want to restart the game (that's FAR too much effort imo), I say just continue playing. Try not to feel too bad about it; as others have said, it doesn't make you a bad person. Maybe head-canon it away if you can, even if you can't change your decision.

I brought Eola so there was little moral conflict. Not like the world was a better place with her around.

I just did this quest the other day. Breezehome has been weirdly quiet without Lydia in it.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-27 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
I used Ms Watchyousleep on one playthrough just to get her the hell out of my bedroom.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-27 11:47 am (UTC)(link)
I couldn't use her if only because she was such a familiar face. I ended up giving her to the Blades instead.

The one I got from Solitude, though. :V

(Anonymous) 2013-03-27 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
You could start a new character, or just pretend you never did the quest. i killed Lydia just to get her out of my room and just pretend she never even existed. After a while I sort of forgot that she actually did. Don't worry dude, this'll pass.

I've done things to pixels that still make me sad.

i still have yet to do this quest, because i dont know who i'd sacrifice. i found out that one of my friends offed my favorite follower and i've been at least slight mad at him ever since

I did that one with my "do EVERYTHING" character, but I'm avoiding it with my two role-play characters. One's a pure heroic type who would never ever do anything for an evil daedra at all, and the other is more neutral and pragmatic.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-27 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
I hate to be that person, but can't you just reload a previous save and just not do that quest?

I personally made a special daedric quest character, one for the dark brotherhood (hated doing the dark brotherhood, I hate killing innocent pixels) and one thief character, just so my main heroic good character won't have to do those things.
