So find F1 communities on the Internet or whatever. That kind of thing (finding people who are really obsessive about whatever thing you like that you don't really know anyone else who likes) is exactly what the Internet is great for. I don't follow F1 myself but I'm sure there's a ton of blogs / forums / twitter people to talk about it with, because there are for most sports.

I don't know, maybe that's not satisfactory, but it might scratch the itch.

There is a very active F1 fandom on Tumblr, plus a lot of forums. There are other people you can talk to, you just have to go find them.

What the other commenters said! I'm in an online sports fandom, and it's so much fun. It's the most fun I've had in any fandom in years, and until I got into it it hadn't really occurred to me that such a thing would exist. Go forth and find your fellow F1 fans!

Please don't renew your friendship with him. It's a slippery slope and you'll be at the bottom of it before you know what happened. Been there, as they say. Ended badly. Learn from my mistakes so you don't have to make your own.

Oh hell yeah! F1 secret!

This is pretty much the only sport I ever get properly excited over. There are others out there, OP, not just your assholish ex. (Personally, I know two people who like it, and one of them I met on the internet, on a forum for a completely different fandom, so. But if you need somewhere to start and are happy with an internet friendship, I am sure there are F1 blogs and forums out there. Or the general comments here. -shrugs-)

Anyway, good luck if you choose to reconnect with him (no shame in that), and good luck finding someone else if you don't. :)

I've been in almost the exact same situation, except with webcomics instead of this. :/

I don't know what you should do, since I don't know exactly what this guy did or if he would do it again, but whatever you choose to do I hope things go well for you. :)

Oh wow, F1 secret! :D

We had an F1 race here just last week (yeah, you can totally guess where I'm from)

Anyway, I've been in pretty much the same situation myself, just not with F1, since my dad loves it. The best I could say is to try and find any F1 or racing sports-related forums somewhere on the internet.

I don't know any personally, so I can't recommend any. But I hope you'll find someone to talk about this with soon, OP!

Oh man, there are so many awesome F1 fans out there. Don't backslide into a toxic relationship and risk your mental well being just to have people to get fannish with. We're out here!

Definitely check out Tumblr (has plenty of nuts, just like any other fandom on there, but also plenty of gems, and I've made a lot of great friends through the F1 fandom there); hell, even Twitter. F1Fanatic is an amazing site that's relatively drama-free, and if you feel you can deal with it (I usually can't, but sometimes get a bit desperate) there's a subreddit dedicated to F1 as well.
