Friday Night Lights

I just started watching this series with a mix of people who have and have never seen it. Holy fuck, why do so many people love Smash? Does he GET better? Is that what people are responding to? Still, I'm one of those who've never seen it, and we're only two episodes in, but 99 percent of EVERYBODY is all "OMG, I LOVE SMASH! HE'S SO AWESOME!" (And its an online group, so there are plenty of people; it's not like five of us or something.)

I actually caught myself thinking that they only like him because he's black. Which is no less racist than hating him because he's black. This was going to be a secret for next week, but I decided not to wait.

Also, I'm really liking the show, and most everyone on it. Smash and Lyla are really the only people I actively hate, and I really love Coach Taylor, Tami and Matt and like Jason Street. Jury's still out on Riggins.

I guess you're watching it with "Mark Watches" ? I was going to do the same but couldn't stop watching it ahead and now I'm on episode 16.

I think Smash is one of those characters that can be seen as funny/annoying depending on the people. Some may find his attitude endearing because they know guys a little like that who are abrasive but good at heart underneath~

I was pretty neutral towards him at first but he has some interestings things going on plotwise later so I think there's a lot more to his character and yeah, part of his fans here must be people who have already seen it all.
