History fandom rocks, man. For me it's Edward II/Piers Gavascon all the way, and that IS SO canon, bitches. I'm glad Hugh bloody Despenser got his bits cut off, though, he was a little shitebag.

Bumping in for the Edward II/Piers Gaveston love. I'm currently trying to read everything I can get my hands on about Edward II's reign, fiction and otherwise. There are actually quite a few Edward/Piers fanfics--um, I mean, historical novels.

There's a good blog on Edward II I discovered recently http://edwardthesecond.blogspot.co.uk/

Also for a non-fic rec I highly recommend "The Greatest Traitor" by Ian Mortimer, about Sir Roger Mortimer, which obviously enough has a lot of Edward II, Gaveston, and so on in it.

Awesome! Thanks for the link :) I already have The Greatest Traitor and loved it (and got me to pick up Mortimer's "Time Traveler's Guide To Medieval England," which is a fun and inventive way to approach your typical general history book). I just finished Alison Weir's book on Isabella, which addresses some of the points Mortimer brings up in his book, and I found the scholarly conversation just so awesome :D /history geek
