Yeah, they really made Erica's about sex which was... weird to me. Sometimes I think they do pretty well with the female characters but hen other times I'm just disappointed and confused.

to be fair, i think it was meant to be more "being noticed" while isaac's was about protection and boyd's was about getting some friends.

They never really fleshed out any of the storylines well enough for that to shine through, even isaac who is beating up boys in the locker room one mine, healing puppies the next...

I agree. That does help. I just think they pulled it off poorly.

Agreed. I don't know what the hell they were thinking, but having some guy creep on a girl in a basement while she's wearing a hospital gown is not sexy, it looks rapey as fuck.

Erica's transformation was generally disappointing, because they spent most of the time concentrating on how she was so hot and sexy now, but that was the only aspect of her life where her new confidence could be seen. As if being able to hit on people was the only thing she was interested in. At least the guys had the "Woo, now we rule at sports!"

Yeeeaaahhhh, exactly. The hospital gown, the place, the everything just all came together in just the wrong way for me.

True. I honestly wondered if she was, in fact, still working on her transformation. Like, she found the bite lacking so she tried to be what she thought was "cool" or "confident". I felt at times, she was still just confused like, "I got the bite but it didn't fix all of me" kind of thing. But this is me trying to justify more of the weird stuff.

Ayrt. I kind of wanted a scene where she would have gone to the climbing wall during the night and then scaled that wall with a few leaps.

Ooo~ I would have liked that. I would have liked that a lot.

I also felt they might have been trying to show this with how, even though she was told she would be cured of her seizures and other health issues, she still... ended up having a seizure. I really wish they could have focused more on that, then just her sexy, and then crying while Allison went on her rampage.

Mostly I just felt like... there was so much missing in between. Erica and Boyd's desertions seemed so out of left field for me when I first watched, because they hadn't really shown them becoming dissatisfied with what Derek promised them at all, I only noticed the slight meaning of it on my second watch and thinking about the scenes.

And they could have been some really interesting dramatic scenes too. :/

I think it would have been great to spend more time on all the characters. I seriously think everyone is kind of underdeveloped. Unfortunately they only had so many episodes. Hopefully, with the third season I hear there will be more episodes so maybe that will work in our favor.

Seriously, that's actually why I prefer fics (long, angsty fics) to canon for this fandom : NOTHING has been developed enough in the show. I seriously think fandom has a better grasp on the characters than the writers do, at this point. Well, part of fandom. I'm not talking about the weird OOCness that made Stiles a pack!mum and the betas being a happy little band of adorable misfits.

But I'm pretty sure season 3 is going to be heavy on the new plot and the new characters, with the Alpha pack, so I very much doubt they'll have time to develop the existing characters. I wish they did, though. They'd just started doing that with Isaac in the last couple of episodes and I was hoping for the rest of the betas to get the same treatment. (and then got my hope crushed when I learned that Erica was not coming back. I was really hopeful about her character, for whatever reason.)
