This is how I failed out of college. I'd have all the essays written, I just couldn't bring myself to pass them in, convinced they were awful and the professors would be mentally mocking my pitiful writing.

You don't suck, OP. Anxiety sucks, but you don't.

It gave me a lot of trouble in college too. I didn't want to turn anything in if I thought it wasn't perfect, because I was afraid the professors would think I was stupid. And of course, nothing is ever perfect.

I didn't exactly get over it, but I got to the point where I could get myself to turn in imperfect and even incomplete stuff and deal with the panic attack afterward. It took a long time to even get to that point (and my grades had tanked in the meantime, so while I graduated, my GPA was pretty abysmal). Anxiety is tough.

Go you for getting through it! Yeah, the perfection thing. For awhile I got myself to a place where I could force myself to just say "fuck it" and turn it in and, as you say, deal with the panic attack afterwards. But then the sad day came when my health insurance disappeared and my meds were no more. Went downhill quickly then. :(

Wow. I'm sorry that happened to you. :( I can sort of relate - I didn't fail uni, but I dropped a unit for various reasons, partly anxiety-related. So, yeah, I'm glad you managed to find people/mechanisms to help you through. :)

Wow. I'm dealing with something like that now. I have to talk to my teachers about problems I'm having in class but I'm too anxiety-ridden to tell them. But, alas, all you can do is keep on keepin' on.

Most professors I did talk to when I was in college were pretty understanding. There was one class where we had to do this whole recording and transcribing deal, and I have ridiculous major issues with hearing my voice on tape, so I went to the professor and explained all this and she let me attempt the project in a different way without recording. It was pretty nice of her.

I hope things go well for you. Good luck talking to the teachers!

Well, we've gotta pick our battles, right? College isn't for everyone. Also, there's always time to go if you want to work up to it.
