(Anonymous) 2013-03-28 01:22 am (UTC)(link)People who hate on him or call him whiny or say he needs to be punched and become SUPER SHINJI don't understand the core of his character or his role. Evangelion is supposed to be a more realistic look at what happens when you make fucked up teens go through traumatic experiences to save the world. (or well, try to at least) They are gonna be traumatized and scared and depressed and fuck up and fuck up again and be self-centered and everything. That is why it is great. Yeah, Shinji is sometimes annoying, but if you even for a moment think you'd deal better with the shitty ass hand he has been dealt with in life you are deluding yourself.
