I never really got why it was unpopular. Or at least why it's less popular than SasuSaku or KakuSaku, of all things, when both Sasuke and Kakashi have shown zero evidence that they even know Sakura is a human being and not, say, a particularly animated potted plant.

Frankly, if the story doesn't end with Naruto basically declaring his undying devotion for Sasuke while only vaguely acknowledging that other options such as Hinata and Sakura exist, I'll be surprised.

It's unpopular as a romantic ship because they come off as brother/sister most of the time, ESPECIALLY on Sakura's side.

It was an okay ship for awhile but after Sakura 'confessed' to Naruto, and Naruto called her a liar it pretty much proved every NaruSaku manifesto wrong because Sakura had not been gradually falling in love with him, it meant NaruSaku didn't develop the way NS fans thought it did at all.

It's annoying for the non-shipping crowd to constantly hear justifications for the ship after that.

So it's one-sided, what does that matter? SasuSaku is also one-sided, and it's still popular. NaruHina is one-sided, too. Naruto has had a crush on Sakura, and Sakura likes him okay, and they're the main male and female characters. Popular ships have been based on far less, so I'm just wondering what's the real reason people are so turned off by it. I ship rarepairs, so I've got no dog in this fight. It just mystifies me.
