Don't know about this particular pairing, but sometimes when I feel like I need some schadenfreude to lighten up my day, I usually remind myself of Naruto shipping. XD

I seriously doubt Naruto/Sakura will ever become canon. Kishimoto's writing involving romance has all been endless, unrequited love or entirely off-screen. And even if he did go for romance (maybe in an epilogue) he'll probably go with Naruto/Hinata.

He's been giving Hinata, and specifically her interacting with Naruto ("his hand is so big and manly"), a lot of pages lately, so it seems clear to me Kishimoto is maneuvering her into the big-breasted but innocent and ever-loyal female reward for Naruto. Her cousin Neji practically told Naruto to date/marry her in the last chapter he was in, and we've seen wondering/approving thoughts of Hinata's feelings for Naruto from Sakura so there's also set-up for everyone else around them being happy for them.

Though I think Hinata's been destined for this since the beginning, it is kind of sad that Kishimoto probably won't do much else with her. Her overcoming her lack of self-confidence was an interesting idea that I wish had been focused on and fleshed out in the story more.

I wish. Because I could never see NaruHina. And everyone saying it's gonna happen in canon and all with everything lately....all I can think is, "What the fuck?" HOW? He's NEVER noticed her before!! NEVER.

NaruSaku all the way, if only to save Sakura from Sasuke, which I hate with even more passion than NaruHina (though not as much as NaruSasu. fuck i hate that pair. i just hate sasuke).

When I was in the Naruto fandom, I liked NaruHina at first. Then the obnoxious fans ruined it for me. So I crawled to the NaruSaku fandom. They seemed cool...

They turned out to be even worse.

I thought no shipping fandom could beat NaruHina in the amount of creepy misogynist fanboys. NS shippers proved me wrong. I thought NaruHina fangirls were rabid in their hate for Sakura. NS fangirls would go as far as praise Hinata's father for his abuse of her. Hinata fans are annoying as fuck, but even that can't justify how far haters will go.

Both fandoms were better than SasuSaku fans, though.

I never really got why it was unpopular. Or at least why it's less popular than SasuSaku or KakuSaku, of all things, when both Sasuke and Kakashi have shown zero evidence that they even know Sakura is a human being and not, say, a particularly animated potted plant.

Frankly, if the story doesn't end with Naruto basically declaring his undying devotion for Sasuke while only vaguely acknowledging that other options such as Hinata and Sakura exist, I'll be surprised.

I'm pretty sure this a troll secret, but on the chance it's not... lolno.

It doesn't piss everyone off as itself, it's the fandom that acts like it's some epic romance when everyone else see's it as friendship.

It's not going to happen. After Sakura's 'confession' proving that she never had romantic feelings for him and all the recent NaruHina stuff, I'd say NaruSaku is dead.
