Wait, I've never even remotely been part of this fandom so I have no familiarity with the actors at all and I haven't even seen the new thing yet, but why don't people like Bonnie? Like, is there an actual reason, or just the casual misogyny that makes it acceptable to hate some girl for being a main character while female?

It's been a while since it happened, so my memory is a bit fuzzy, but Bonnie chose to quit Starkid and terminate contact with the other actors because she couldn't reconcile that environment with her religious beliefs (she's a devout Mormon, I think). She also was under a lot of fire for tweeting a link to a pro-life documentary and calling it life changing.

As I recall, she also made a comment comparing women who get abortions to Casey Anthony and comparing abortions in America to the Holocaust.

Why do people dislike her? But yeah, I agree, Bonnie's a much better Hermione.

Bonnie was better, but also she had had more of a chance to practice being Hermione. This girl got a main part she had never seen before and practiced it like three times? From the chance she had I think she did an excellent job.

And her seduction scene with Lockhart was hilarious as fuck idec.

As far as I can tell by my sleuthing yesterday, she got extremely religious (see thread above) and cut off all interest with Starkid. Although, there's Starkid fans who insist that she's just "busy".

I think Meredith could've been great but she really wasn't. I couldn't see Hermione at all. It was a bit disappointing.

Bonnie had more time before AVPM and AVPS to really become Hermione. Merideth had THREE DAYS. That was it.

All things considered, I thought she did a very good job. And she has a better singing voice than Bonnie, lbr.

I thought Bonnie having a weak(ish) voice made her a good Hermione. If Hermione was this amazing singer it wouldn't have been as fun.

I love Meredith, and I think she's a way better singer than Bonnie, but I just... yeah. I agree.
