I've never got this 'France raised England' thing. Like, I know there's quite a lot of things in Hetalia that aren't historically supported, but this one just seems really random.

Just to quote Wiki here:
"This [the Roman period] was followed by another five hundred years with very little interaction between the two, as both were invaded by different Germanic tribes. At the turn of the second millennium, the British Isles were primarily involved with the Scandinavian world, while France's main foreign relationship was with the Holy Roman Empire."

So, they hang out while under Roman rule and then don't interact for five hundred years...until France invades England in the Norman Conquest. So, I guess he could have 'raised him' while they were Roman territories, but otherwise they seem to have ignored each other...?

Idk, I actually find the fic and art cute, and it doesn't really bother me per say, I just think it seems odd XD

(And yeah this is almost definitely a troll secret but I just like to think about things too much okay)

Well, I guess that if you ignore those pesky 500 years, William's rule could count as raising? Years and years of later mutual rivalries, alliances and spite notwithstanding.

Well we see them hanging out in the interim. For example, there's a strip with the two of them in the year 1,000 which is before the conquest. Not that accurate probably, but lol it's Hetalia,

'lol it's Hetalia' is pretty much how I think of it, usually XD

the creator tends to favor "cute" over "accurate"

Also there's the point that Normandy =/= France during this time period. Sure, William the Bastard owed the French King his allegiance for the lands he held that were gifted him by the crown, but William invaded for Normandy, not France, and conquered England in his own right. He didn't owe allegiance to the French King for England.
Also, the Normans at the time were pretty much French Vikings...? I mean the Vikings got given Normandy some years before in a bid to make them settle down and stop looting other places. And so they settled down and made French-Viking babies and it was scary.

All this also applies. Also, invading doesn't seem to imply a happy family raising atmosphere...

This is true, but Himaruya doesn't really make the distinction for some reason (probably because Hetalia =/= history).

So the OP meant the real France and England? I thought it was some show with characters named France and England. I liked my theory better.

(Hey, Shakespeare had characters named Kent and France and so forth, so...)
