I don't get that impression from what we know about the break-up (which is, admittedly, next to nothing). Between Tenzin talking about how he and Lin grew apart and Pema's claim that she just admitted her own feelings, plus the clash in Tenzin's and Lin's personalities, I figured that Tenzin and Lin hit a rough patch in their relationship and Pema confessed during that time. Lin could have taken it so badly because she saw Tenzin as running away from their problems rather than try to solve them-- she may have seen him as a sort of fair-weather friend, ducking out on her when things got tough.

Now that you mention it, I think that's pretty much EXACTLY what happened.

For some reason all I could do was think about the situation from Pema's perspective. It's really awkward when you're in love with someone that's already in a relationship....
