As someone that wrote one of the "fandom classics" for my pairing, it's a bit of an odd experience. It's nice that people rec it and a lot of people love it, but I don't have any expectation that everyone will read it and enjoy it.

It's totally okay to dislike a fandom classic. Sometimes stories just hit people in different ways, and a lot of people enjoy something that doesn't move me at all. It's completely normal and fine. The worst thing that will happen to you unless you go around saying "X story sucks," is that people will probably rec it to you multiple times when you tell them you're into that fandom. That's not much.
