FTR, I was super uncomfortable with my virgin initiation. It was similar, and I really, really didn't like it, and couldn't get out of it without causing a scene because everyone else was so enthusiastic/pushy/social pressure COME ON EVERYONE HAS TO PARTICIPATE.

Glad to hear it was 100% voluntary at yours, but I felt super pressured at mine, and I can't imagine it was a huge outlier.
