I don't think it sounds rude. I think they're honestly worried because it sounds like their friend has SO MUCH invested in this ship - in addition to other things going on in their life. Being overly invested in a ship is no fun when it doesn't work out the way you want (and yes, I've been there and done that myself).

I hope you're right. It's just... There are a lot of people who are overdramatic on the internet. Hell, there are plenty of people who are overdramatic in real life. It doesn't necessarily mean they're unstable or a ship not becoming canon is going to ruin their life. I don't know. I suppose I can appreciate the OP's worry, something about it was just a bit off putting to me.

Either way, talking it out would be the best option.

No offence meant to you, but I kind of want to ask you if you're new. Count your lucky stars if you haven't yet run into online and rl acquaintances who take ships and fandom genuinely too seriously. I can see how the op might look like they are overreacting to the casual viewer, but being apart of the fandoms people have guessed to be the one in the secret, they really aren't. There are adults in depression over ships. Who will stalk you irl over fandom. It makes sense, fandom/ships can be one in a list of things someone overdoes just like other vices.
