(Anonymous) 2013-03-31 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)agreed. There's a reason people talk about fanservice- Dean/cas shippers are far from a secret! Just because there's far more intentional evidence for everyone being heterosexual... did people expect consistency? quality television? really? Just let people enjoy the show however they want.
(Though it's hard when you care about someone and they don't seem 100% there. I get that.)

(Anonymous) 2013-03-31 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)It's pretty openly acknoweledged fanservice. There was a wave of wank on Tumblr a few weeks back because Misha Collins said something about giving nods to Dean/Cas shippers at one of the recent cons, but in a way that felt far more like slashbait than any actual attempt to build up a relationship (which is what a lot of fans had been reading - a deliberate attempt to develop a romantic relationship between Dean and Cas) and that did not go over well. But what do people expect? It's fan service. That's how fan service works. I'm just glad that these creators are cool with it as opposed to creators in other series I've followed who acted as though people shipping gay pairings was the greatest of sins and terrible perversions. Ugh.
But man, just ship and let ship. There's no need for wanking on someone else's parade. If they want to read it as TOTALLY ABOUT TO BE CANON!! then so be it. It doesn't hurt me any.
(And if it hurts them when it doesn't actually happen, well. That's unfortunate. It is. I get that. And I can't change that it will hurt them, but what I can do is not make it worse by rubbing salt in the wound and acting like a fucker about it.)
