Haha, I don't know why you say "other shippers" when it's obvious you're talking about Wincest shippers.

Tbh, I'm not really that into shipping for SPN, but I have to follow both Wincest and Destiel shippers since a lot Wincest shippers never reblog gifs of Dean and Cas together, and a Destiel shippers don't reblog nearly as many gifs of Sam and Dean together. I think that's the only fandom I'm in where I can tell what people ship by what they reblog.

But yeah, from what I've seen a lot of Wincest shippers act weirdly passive aggressive toward Destiel shippers. They won't outright say that they hate Dean/Cas, but they'll make little text posts that are obviously about that ship. Destiel shippers, from what I've seen, don't hate on Wincest shippers, but a lot of them are kind of crazy and tend to be more misogynistic and bash any girl who shows an interest in Dean or Cas. (For instance, a lot of them were cheering Meg's death while a lot of Wincest shippers were saddened by it and many of them shipped Cas/Meg since it didn't interfere with their ship).

Yeah, even as a non-shipper, I don't understand why people are pissed about wanting to see canon D/C even if it's not going to happen. I can understand being annoyed by the D/C shippers who tell people they're homophobic if they don't like that ship or the shippers who bash girls, but not all of them are like this from what I've seen. If it was a non-canon hetero ship, no one would be up in arms.

I didn't just mean Wincest shippers, though yeah, I do see more of this sort of thing from them than I do for other fan groups. Then again, the majority of fandom ships either Dean/Cas or Sam/Dean, so. FTR, I am myself a multishipper who prefers Sam/Dean most of all.

I think the crazy misogynistic aspect is pretty equally handled by all the different shipping factions, unfortunately. I've seen Sam/Dean shippers who absolutely loathed Ruby (and not because she was doing very bad things but because she got in the way of Sam/Dean), D/C shippers who loathed Meg (though thankfully not as many of these? Maybe because Meg had a lot of people very protective over her), shippers from both camps hate on Lisa, - name a female character who has shown a romantic interest in Sam, Dean, or Cas and I can show you a female character who has been unfairly bashed by fandom.

The ship war is fueled by both sides, but as someone who is primarily a Wincest shipper, yeah. My Tumblr is almost all D/C (which gets irritating) because the D/C fans I follow are pretty ship friendly to all ships, post good Sam stuff, and good Dean stuff amidst the D/C stuff that does nothing for me while many of the Sam/Dean shippers I've tried to follow always slip bashing stuff in there at some point. It sucks because I love Sam/Dean and want a whole bunch more of it, but it's not that popular on Tumblr to begin with and then it's like walking through a minefield about whether a person you've followed will randomly start spouting off about how much she hates a certain angel or how ~delusional~ fans of certain other pairings are or whatever and whatever. I just don't have the time or the energy to deal with ship bashing anymore, even if it's not a ship I ship.

I agree with everything you've said here, but especially that last paragraph. No one is homophobic for not shipping a fanon slash ship. They're not even homophobic if they see no canon subtext for a fanon slash ship. But the majority of D/C fans don't act as if it is. They're pretty chill and happy, for the most part, and letting them have their squee doesn't mean I have to enjoy Sam and Dean any less.

Its interesting how different our experiences can be. I follow primarily Wincest shippers on Tumblr because Sam is my favorite character and I've found Destiel shippers largely ignore him. Or sometimes wish he will settle down and the show can focus more on Dean and Cas hunting. Yeah. I unfollowed that person.

I still see a lot of Cas, but more than that, I see people wishing his character got interaction with people besides Dean. Sam and Cas have such an interesting relationship. So did Meg and Cas.

Whats alarming though is the sheer amount of shit these kids get flung at them daily for their ship. Like, holy christ. No one deserves that and if it leads to them making a snarky comment, I don't blame them. Death threats aint cool.
