Yeah, I was coming here to say exactly this. There's an unfortunate trend in RP circles that the person/people you RP with at that time are suddenly your very best friends for the rest of your life (which I understand can feel like that when it's just starting out--I equate it to the "honeymoon" phase of a romantic relationship), but new fandoms happen, and if there's little other basis for the friendship than the RP, well...I feel like this is where most of the personal grudgewank crops up.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's perfectly okay to just have acquaintances that you enjoy the company of and RP with, and if a genuine friendship does come up out of that (meaning having plenty more in common than the RP/fandom), great--but it's not necessary.
