Totally agree with this. If fandom wank (the phenomenon, not the site, not that I don't like the site) counted as a fandom it would be my true favourite. I personally have been following the Victoria Bitter/Andrew Blake saga for years and can't look away - it's like a train wreck but the crash just won't end, ever. Horrifying, but occasionally hilarious ("His son? A sparrow!").

The way fandom warps people's judgement so terrible is like the gift that keeps on giving, and it is wondrous (from a distance).

The Victoria Bitter/Andrew Blake saga is wholly entertaining, facepalmy, and a little confusing. I need to sit down one day and read all that wank in detail because I only understand about half of it.

But yeah, except for when I'm at the center of it I think that wank is beautiful. I don't really like being part of it, and thus I'm probably even more polite on the internet than I am in real life, but I love being on the sidelines of goofy stupid shit.

Like, Harry Potter wank, who would have predicted that? What ridiculous things to get worked up over. I fuckin love it.

If you ever get round to it, it's worth it - fraud, psychically channeling hobbits on the astral plane, psychically channeling Elijah Wood on an astral plane, claiming to be a member of several paramilitary organisations including the IRA, beloved sons being revealed to be sparrows, trying the exact same con in the HP fandom with no shame at all, 'I'm being chased by magical shaman hit men' being used as an excuse to avoid being outed as a conman - it really is the wank that has it all. I would say it out-Msscribes Msscribe in terms of sheer lunacy as well as quantity. The transphobia throughout the wank is not so pleasant, but then again it's hard to feel sorry for VB/AB when you get to the part where he contributes to a volatile situation which ends in an IRL murder, and then tries to profit from that murder. VB/AB: terrible, terrible person, but glorious wank for all the parts that don't involve IRL death :(

But yeah, I love me some wank, but when it gets too close to home it's awful - I was sort of in the same circles as the people in the middle of a big SPN wank a few years ago, and I was just like 'Is this the real life?' no-stop for weeks because it was so surreal. I definitely prefer my wank at a distance - there's nothing quite so entertaining as reading about Snape Wives years after the fact and just boggling in sheer awe. Why Snape? Why believe he is real? Just why? Why not. Shine on you crazy diamonds, I hope someone else got custody of your kids, but shine on.

The AB/VB really is an amazing tale, especially when you read all of the different perspectives and versions etc. It was extremely entertaining!

But when I stumbled across his tumblr right right when he got "into" destiel? I was horrified and it took all the fun out of it. I couldn't believe he was openly looking for vulnerable depressed fans to 'counsel'. What a psychopath.
