I have yet to see this movie (and probably never will), but somehow I ended up in a corresponding tag and MY GOD there are wayy too many askblogs for him. Even the ones that people think are creative, there's another FIVE!

oh my god I never guessed that The Lorax CGI cash-in fandom didn't have any integrity

There's a lot to process with this secret... but I'm just going to minimize my answer anyway and just say that this is all tumblr's fault. Especially your friendship break up. (I'm sorry about that though, hope you guys get through it.)

Look, it's one thing to say "I wish there was more of X" - that's a fine statement, it doesn't shit on anyone's fun or anything and still expresses your desire for certain type of fic/whatever.

It's another thing to say "I wish there was less Y, so that I could have X" because that shits all over peoples fun AND also implies that people should stop doing what they enjoy in order to cater to your tastes.

See the difference?

(Anonymous) 2013-04-01 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
it's perfectly valid for someone to say they want more of X but can't because there's too much of something else they find obnoxious. that doesn't mean they're shitting all over everyone elses fun unless they're actively getting in peoples' faces and telling them to stop doing it.

sorry you can't handle someone saying they just don't like something

(Anonymous) 2013-04-02 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
so which onceler ask blog is yours then?

(Anonymous) 2013-04-02 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
I might agree with you if we were talking about literally anything else

but the Onceler "fandom" needs to just fall in a fucking hole

(Anonymous) 2013-04-02 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah but their fun is stupid and sucks

I am probably never going to get over the fact that the movie 'Lorax' was a huge thing.

p.s. I am just going to leave this here.

I laughed really hard but then I got sad

I was semi-interested in seeing that film, but one of the people I follow (left over from when i used to be in the TGWTG fandom) got all into the creepy body horror shit in that fandom and I just went D8 and had to hide everything she ever did with that fandom.

I now have zero interest in ever seeing that film or ever wanting to be in that fandom.

It's really mean-spirited for a kids' movie, especially a Dr. Seuss adaptation- the book and original animated short are dark, but they're at least cautiously optimistic. The movie just feels like everyone involved in it really did not want to make it. You're not missing much.

[personal profile] ex_mek82 2013-04-02 12:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it just seemed like the movie was made to kill time until they could start on Despicable Me 2.

Plus, wasn't there this visual 'blink and you'll miss it' joke where 'KILL ME' was hidden in one part of the movie?

(Anonymous) 2013-04-03 08:58 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, in a scene where the character who presumably put it there was in a really boring game of pseudo-Scrabble and couldn't leave. I hardly think that was a cry for help from the animators

I keep seeing people do shit for the Once-ler and it weirds me out (and I'm part of a fandom where vore is not only common but canon) because... well. It's a kid's movie about the environment, and the amount of fangirls for a (to me) okay film is astounding.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-02 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
One of my friends ran an askblog for Ted's gramma from that movie and she was kickass.
But I do remember people not wanting to talk to her bc she wasn't a sexy once-ler, which I think is the biggest bullshit.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-03 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
nothing wrong with disliking it, but you are being a dick about. let people have their hugbox when they're teenagers on the internet. you're not entitled to a fandom catering to you.
