the only thing about ken in LitD is that i wish they'd make him do things now and then that aren't about barbie somehow. the episode where he can't get a job because he loves her too much just made him seem really losery rather than a perfect boyfriend, lmao........

Funny, that's refreshing to me...a total turnaround of the whole "women's lives revolve around men" you see so often in media. I think it's a funny little poke at that.

Well, the concept of that episode is kind of what the people at Pixar based their Ken off, so I guess it just means the two Kens are two sides of the same coin.

brb writing introspection fic where Raquelle realises she's having the gay panic and that she's just projecting her feelings for Barbie onto Ken. This all happens while she's sitting on Barbie's front steps waiting for "Ken", as per usual.

Yeah, I mean the brand is called "Barbie", not "Barbie and her family Ken, Stacy, whatever names they have". They mostly want to sell Barbie dolls, so it's normal that all other characters revolve around her.

anyway, i never said the spotlight should be taken away from barbie, or even that it was bad that the characters revolve around her. just that ken in particular can come across as a little weird and over-attached at times, and it'd be nice if they gave him a tiny bit more to do in the background. he's adorable and a fun character, but sometimes he can come across the wrong way? shrugs
