Singalong time?

(Anonymous) 2013-04-01 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know squat about the actual content of these books, but covers not representing their contents is kind of a well-known phenomenon. There are even filks about it.

To the tune of She'll Be Coming Round the Mountain When She Comes:

There's a bimbo on the cover of the book.
There's a bimbo on the cover of the book.
She is blonde and she is sexy;
She is nowhere in the text. She
is a bimbo on the cover of the book.

There's a dragon on the cover of the book.
There's a dragon on the cover of the book.
He is long and green and scaly,
but hes nowhere in the tale. He
is a dragon on the cover of the book.

There's a rocket on the cover of the book.
There's a rocket on the cover of the book.
Its a phallic and a stout one,
but my novel was without one.
There¹s a rocket on the cover of my book.

There's a castle on the cover of the book.
There's a castle on the cover of the book.
Every knight is fit for battle,
but the action's in Seattle.
There's a castle on the cover of the book.

Wow, this was very first filk I ever learned. I knew a lot of Baen and Ace authors in the '80s-'90s, and it was very very apt.

That was beautiful! The first verse reminds me of the new Anne of Green Gables cover with a blonde woman on it. Very apt.

I've never heard this before, but it's so true. Thanks for sharing. Will be singing it all evening. :D Makes me thing of that "Little House on the Prairie" book set where on the back cover, Laura has her dress unbuttoned to the navel. DX
