So you're only attracted to dudes whose parents were superficial enough to throw a few thousand dollars at cosmetic dental procedures? I'm sorry, that must suck :\

I had braces when I was younger. All it meant was I didn't want a gap between my front teeth, not that I'm some superficial asshole.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-01 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I had braces TWICE when I was a kid. Twice. My teeth are still crooked.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-01 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I had them twice, too, plus jaw surgery. My teeth are also still crooked in places and have gaps (I just don't have a crossbite/severely pronounced underbite any more).

I don't think you're a superficial asshole? At the most, you could say my comment implied your parents were superficial assholes, but really I was just being a bitter poor person who doesn't feel like being judged based on how much money her parents spent on her teeth. I would have thought that was obvious.

That's weird. Because braces won't really fix a true gap between front teeth (Diastema). You have to permanently bond them together. It's jaw shape, not teeth positioning, that causes the gap. You can shift them together, but they'll just pop back apart

wait, what

(Anonymous) 2013-04-01 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I mean, most upper middle class kids in the US have straight teeth, so it's not a big deal.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-02 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
you're right, upper middle class americans are the only people really worth paying attention to.

Or who are lucky enough to grow up in countries where dental procedures are free for children under 16. :)

High five!

(Anonymous) 2013-04-02 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
Dental procedures that are necessary. Not cosmetic dentistry.

If braces (and any other painful night device that will put your teeth straight) are cosmetic dentistry for you then cosmetic dentistry is also included in the deal.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-02 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Ayrt. No. Had braces myself for years on the NHS. But my teeth do not look like porcelain.

Nobody's teeth will look like porcelain unless they have porcelain veneer on them. And considering the secret at no point referred to porcelain-like teeth, I don't really see what that has to do with it.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-02 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
not counting of course the people who actually have (fairly) even teeth without the orthodontics.... because having even teeth means that someone is vain.

just saying, try out all the positions before you get bullheaded about something.
