Normally I'd agree with you op, but not for Grimm. I and all the fandom folks I interact with loove Rosalee and either like or love to hate Adalind. We liked Angelina even. The problem with Juliet is Juliet. She's honestly a flop of a character. I keep hoping that once she knows all what is going on she might improve but she wasn't saying much as a character prior to the amnesia thing either.
To me the problem in the Grimm fandom is with the guys. Too many people want Hank gone in exchange for more Munroe.

i just want wu to have a first god damn name.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-01 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
that too. surely they could have worked that in last episode

It's coming, don't worry.

I love Juliette, she was so down to earth and reasonable in the first season. They've made her pretty pathetic this season, hopefully the next few eps redeem her character. I honestly don't think Adalind's actor is very good, although I have fun with the character. And RosaMarySueLee is starting to get on my nerves. Every scene where Monroe and Rosalee are together seems so fake "cutesy" to me. Theyv'e turned MOnroe into a poodle, taken his balls and painted his nails because he's the fandom favorite. What happened to the simmering, barely contained Blutbad who we saw when the show started? David G is getting better as an actor but Nick is a selfish jerk around Juliette. He doesn't really deserve her anymore, he needs to GROVEL when she finds out what's been happening to her that everyone else knows about and no one has had the decency to tell her in a fashion that she'd believe.

+1

i literally forgot monroe was like that in the first season. i was convinced he was always this passive.

last friday's episode was especially ridiculous.

I'm truly curious as to what about Rosalee makes her a Mary Sue to you. Methinks somebody is misusing it to mean 'girl I don't like'.
Monroe...how to say this. Are you paying attention? From the show started Monroe's whole deal was that he is a reformed blutbad. It makes sense that someone trying hard not to be simmering and barely contained would get better at it over time. It's not like he's no longer a blutbad, he's voged this season and still fearsome. You'll probably see more of that when the war gets going.
I agree that Nick should have retold her by now, I'd be pretty upset to be seeing visions and crazy shit and no one will help.

Beautiful, "tamed" Monroe (to the point where I expect her to be leading him around on a leash), can do no wrong, everyone loves her, suddenly the liaison to some super secret council, came from a tragic past to become OMG SO AWESOME EVERYONE NEEDS HER TO DO EVERYTHING... Yeah, she's pretty much a Sue.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-02 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
She isn't stopping traffic with her beauty. I've yet to hear any of the characters remark about how dropdead she is so no, Monroe is responsible for Monroe's behavior (but you seem to ignore that) so no. She's a side character and has just enough going for her to work as one. The spice shop is a just helpful plot device. In the spice shop, a lot of times it's her and Monroe working together. No one acts like her potion knowledge is unparalleled. The wesen council would count if maybe it turned out she headed the council. But making a phone call? Cool, but hardly Sueish. The most it did was reveal there is such a thing. Her past again was an early plot device and has come up like twice since. Wasn't it pretty much how she got introduced to them and that was it?
A Sue would be saving Nick from his bad guys all the time whereas do you remember she wasn't physically there for half the season?

So, pretty much not a Sue.

saying rosalee isn't a sue is like saying belle from beauty and the beast isn't a sue.

also, being a sue doesn't automatically mean the character is bad in any way, shape, or form. it's simply a criticism of the way the character is written.

and i'm saying that as someone who outright loves and adores rosalee. (and belle. fuck yeah belle.)

THANK YOU. I am so fecking sick of the Juliette hate - c'mon, girl took on a damn ogre in the first season, turned out to be a pretty badass Spanish speaker and has been certainly more proactive this season (not letting her hallucinations control her life, walloping Renard two good ones during THAT episode).

(Was I the only one rooting for Renard/Juliette before the curse? Yes? ...I'll be in my corner now.)

I only started watching Grimm with this season and haven't gone back to catch up yet, but based on an admittedly skewed history of the characters so far, I was totally fine with Renard/Juliette. Nick/Juliette, meh. Amnesia aside, the chemistry just seemed better between the former than the latter.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-04 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
YES. Up until the curse crap, Renard/Juliette also led to her showing more of a spine, and he seemed to respect her more.
