(Anonymous) 2013-04-01 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)Rosalee is absolutely delightful and I adore her rather ridiculously. Adalind, OTOH, makes me grind my teeth to powder every time she's on screen. Which I suppose is a good thing in a villain but it's hard on my TMJ.

I'm not a huge fan of Renard, I guess? I mean, he's a fine character, but easily the one I'm the least interested in. That's about as low as it gets for me.

i watch it casually, but count me as another person who isn't really into juliette.
i feel super bad for wishing she'd been written off every time i catch an episode, but she always comes across as just so purposeless to me. to make matters worse, i think they missed the mark with the casting. by a mile.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-02 04:30 am (UTC)(link)There are lots of characters who I simply cannot love because of this reason. I grew out of the bashing stage, but that's honestly about it. And gender doesn't really matter, I don't think. Well, in most cases. I mean, if you think about it women are the likeliest characters to get in the way of a preferred M/M ship considering how heteronormative medias are. I can't speak for anyone, but it really doesn't have much to do with gender. There are plenty of male characters (like Mickey from Doctor Who, and Raoul from Phantom of the Opera, and Kevin from Criminal Minds, and Ron from Harry Potter, etc) who I simply cannot love because they get in the way.
Nothing wrong with that at all.
Unless you're being a psycho about it, of course.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-02 10:33 am (UTC)(link)The problem with Juliette's character is not the main slash pairing... other shows have main slash pairings too, and people often act immaturely about their favourite ships, that happens everywhere. As I see it, there are a lot of people who like Juliette, and there are people who actively *try* to like her. Sometimes the latter group fails, and that's the problem, because that's the writers' fault. ("She's just written that way?") I think they don't write her consistently enough: we get random moments of awesome ("Stream hot water on the ogre!" (OK... this doesn't sound half as funny in English as it should)) and really genre blind decisions (her conversation with Adalind before the hiatus for example), the writers sometimes use her just right (the translations from Spanish), and sometimes they put her in situations where she can't make right decisions because she... doesn't have a clue what happens around her. I think they don't really allow her to be as awesome as she could be, and meanwhile she's surprisingly real, she's the most *real* character from a decidedly *not real* show, and sometimes she sticks out as a... sore thumb?
I like her character: she reminds me of one of my friends to a great extent, but I really-really-really don't like the way she's treated by the writers, and I think I'm not alone in this.
