Are we talking about Juliette? I don't participate in the fandom or in the shipping, but my dislike of her character is based on the fact that it has taken almost two seasons for her to have any kind of storyline of her own. Rosalee, on the other hand, has been a great character from her first episode, and I don't mind Adalind either, even if she is the stereotypical bad girl.

I was about to say the same thing. Juliette is, plain and simple, a snore as a character. IMO so was Nick in the first season. He is getting more interesting, Juliette not so much. :/

Rosalee is absolutely delightful and I adore her rather ridiculously. Adalind, OTOH, makes me grind my teeth to powder every time she's on screen. Which I suppose is a good thing in a villain but it's hard on my TMJ.

Yes to Juliette being boring until recently. And I love Rosalee so much.

tbf that is the writers' faults. but i've seen people outright reject juliette for even less.

I have yet to see any hint of charisma from the actress. But the writers don't help either.

Man.

Rosalee is just the best.

What's so good about her? I really find her the most boring of the characters on the show.

Yeah, Juliette gets on my nerves, but at least I have a feeling about her. Rosalee is just....bland. I often forget that she exists.

I don't think this is really a reason to outright dislike her though? Not being interested in her sure, but active dislike?

+1

if anything we should be discussing how the writer's shove her in a corner half the time, give her moments of badassery, and then throw her in an increasingly frustrating plotline that sympathizes more with the plight of nick and his asshole-ish behavior regarding it.

juliette could be a great character is the writer's would just stop sucking.

I guess it turns to dislike because she's a main character and not a minor one? It becomes "this character is doing nothing and using up half of the screen-time in the process when we could see more of _____."

what the person above me said, but it also has a lot to do with frustration imo? it's rarely fun watching a character be completely out of the loop unless the character's an audience insert (juliette isn't, the audience knows more than she does) or if it's played for comedy (also not the case).

so there's tranfered frustration to juliette because (some of) the audience associates her with the segments of the story that just drag.

I don't watch Grimm but... Juliette? Rosalee? Adalind? ...wow these are some self-insert levels of names here. Is no one just named Sue or Jen?

(Anonymous) 2013-04-02 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
Juliette is not a particularly uncommon name so I'm not sure what you're on about there. Adalind is part of in-show mythology / cultural kind of a thing going on, so it's kind of thematically appropriate. And Rosalee is uncommon but not exactly 'special snowflake' or anything - it's not a name that I would blink twice it if I met someone named Rosalee. I'm not sure what you want, really - is having names that are slightly less common just verboten?

(For reference, some of the major male characters include Nick, Hank, Monroe, and Sean Renard. So again a pretty good mix).

Rosalie is a name that was really popular in Germany a few generations back - it might well be that she's simply named after an older relative.

they're purposefully going for fairytale-ish sounding names.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-03 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
This last storyline has been kinda meh for her but the most recent episodes with her where the snark has come out have made me like her more - "talking to my self...yup still doing it"
