(Anonymous) 2013-04-02 10:33 am (UTC)(link)The problem with Juliette's character is not the main slash pairing... other shows have main slash pairings too, and people often act immaturely about their favourite ships, that happens everywhere. As I see it, there are a lot of people who like Juliette, and there are people who actively *try* to like her. Sometimes the latter group fails, and that's the problem, because that's the writers' fault. ("She's just written that way?") I think they don't write her consistently enough: we get random moments of awesome ("Stream hot water on the ogre!" (OK... this doesn't sound half as funny in English as it should)) and really genre blind decisions (her conversation with Adalind before the hiatus for example), the writers sometimes use her just right (the translations from Spanish), and sometimes they put her in situations where she can't make right decisions because she... doesn't have a clue what happens around her. I think they don't really allow her to be as awesome as she could be, and meanwhile she's surprisingly real, she's the most *real* character from a decidedly *not real* show, and sometimes she sticks out as a... sore thumb?
I like her character: she reminds me of one of my friends to a great extent, but I really-really-really don't like the way she's treated by the writers, and I think I'm not alone in this.
