You sound kinda selfish.

I mean they're even ahead of you because you went on a two week vacation

(Anonymous) 2013-04-03 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh, what are they doing that's selfish? Because they assumed their mom and grandma wouldn't have watched that far ahead because they didn't seem into it at first? That seems like a reasonable assumption, and they aren't really asking anything of their mom and grandma or chastising them for watching the rest of the show.

Or are you just looking for someone to criticize for no reason, as usual?

Oh hey, it's another spoiled child. Hi kiddo.

There's no indication that they asked them to wait in the secret. Also, they were actively trying to get them into it, and are now complaining that they are?

Also apparently they think OLD PEOPLE getting really into a show is embarrassing.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-03 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
They also weren't criticizing or scolding their mom and grandma for not waiting. They only, secretly, expressed disappointment that they didn't (I guess). So you're calling them selfish for feeling something, even though they aren't acting on it.

And why do you get to say things like that to people, but anyone who disagrees with you is a spoiled child?

Look I know you're trying to say something useful but all I hear is anonymous whining.

I'm sure that is indeed all you hear when someone isn't telling you how funny and smart you are.

And what you think is applause is actually your own hand jerking, jerking, jerking yourself in whatever godforsaken dorm room you call home.

Agawwww, my family really enjoyed something I showed them! I didn't ask them to wait, so now I'm disappointed that they went ahead and am also expressing my disgust in how they're ACTING LIKE FANS--Even though I expressly wanted ANYONE to be a fan with me b'awww

Yeah, it's... it's really just whining.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-04 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
What disgust?

"But I'm more embarrassed than anything. Not to mention horribly put off by the fact that they're squeeing about it and buying merchandise without me."

Like, they introduced them to a thing that you wanted to be in-fandom with--and then you got it and you're embarrassed! Good job!

They may not have been the intent, but it really feels kind of slimy.

Once, when my friends and I started watching Battlestar Galactica together, a friend of ours went on a 2 week long vaycay. None of us watched it while he was gone and we left off on a cliffhanger. We resumed a few days after he got back. So no, I don't think it's unreasonable to wait for someone to get back before resuming a show if you made plans to watch it together. Or at the very least not get so far ahead. Five whole seasons is a bit extreme, dontcha think?

I don't think it's unreasonable if the person didn't ask them to wait in the first place.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-04 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
Um, seriously? Maybe you don't have friends to marathon shows with, but I'm pretty sure the general consensus is that you don't move on when those you're watching it with aren't present. Or at the very least you don't watch the entire series without them. It's common courtesy, for goodness sake.

This is hilarious.

No, I don't marathon shows with people. But I do watch a few shows with my Mom. I'm not so fucking entitled to expect my MOM and GRANDMOTHER to not enjoy something while I'm gone, because I'm a fucking adult.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-04 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
It is fucking polite not to get *5 seasons* ahead when you're explicitly watching a show *with* someone.

You do not generally have to *ask* for someone to be polite.

Did you know that there are *italics* available on this site

I bet they wouldn't even disagree? I mean, they did make this a secret and all.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-04 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
How do you not know that it's not generally considered polite to continue sequential *joint* activities without asking if it's okay first?

I mean, if you've decided to do something with someone, the onus is on *you* to ask if you can continue alone, not on them to ask that you don't.
chardmonster: (Default)

[personal profile] chardmonster 2013-04-04 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
There's no indication that they ever told their MOM AND GRANDMOTHER that this was a joint activity.
