Incorrect on three accounts yourself. I know it's a base for many other languages. Many of which sound quite different from it. And I'm not looking at any stereotypes, I just hear people speaking it and feel like my ears are being violently assaulted by horrible noise.

I've always thought it sounds kind of musical, personally. When I went to Berlin for a few days once, I loved hearing people speaking it, even if I could only understand a word here and there.

Ahem, you know that English and German are related? English is also a Germanic language and so the languages are very similar.
