I end up skipping through a lot of the scenes in the TV show because they're either boring me or I don't care about the characters there (lookin' at you, Snow... and just about everyone but Tyrion and Dany, come to think of it) so I'm probably going to end up reading the books so I have a more complete idea of what's going on.

I'm weird, I'll put up with a lot of things in books that I don't care about in TV shows or movies.

It also bothers me a lot that I notice just how much spouting of exposition they do in like, whorehouses or someone's tent on the battlefield, rather than actually doing something. I don't know if I never noticed before, or if it's just more prominent in this show, there's just a lot of standing around talking about doing stuff rather than actually doing it. I might put up with it better when I'm not listening to prostitutes moaning and giggling in the background...

I'll go out on a limb and say that it's probably not that you haven't noticed it before and probably more that TV has fewer options for exposition. In a book, a writer can show you the world in the bits between thought and dialogue; a TV or movie director doesn't have quite the same leeway.

It just feels like we go from more "Talking about what we're going to do in the whorehouse" and then skip to "Talking about what we're going to do in the battlefield" and then they go back and it's "Talking about what we did offscreen in the whorehouse" and I just want to like... see that? It feels like this is so much more of a "tell, don't show" show, rather than vice-versa.
