All the time, or did they just eat it sometimes? A lot of poor/undernourished women would get cravings for, and eat, chalk and clay and dirt when they were pregnant, because their diets were so lacking.

Perhaps this person was the same.

Or perhaps they were just strangely attracted to stuff with horrifying texture and smell.

I could not eat lard by itself, it is horrifying. In stuff it's not much better. Leaves a film in my mouth.
