It wasn't about the game being accurate for the time period, the reactions to the game from many black people was about the content being triggering (god that word has lost its meaning so hard).

A friend of mine said that the content was very upsetting to her so she's not going to play the game, and unfortunately that went from people telling her "don't be so sensitive" all the way to people calling her all manner of slurs and sending her death threats all because she said that she doesn't want to play a game that was triggering to her.

Not exclusively. One of the top comments I read was from someone who didn't care and didn't know what the storyline was and still called the game a racist piece of shit or something... I can understand when people react to comments like that (not... excessively of course, what is it with tumblr and death threats??), but for just feeling uncomfortable that irritated me too, I think people were mixing up two stances on the issue.
Or maybe people were just being douchebags about it I don't know.... I wouldn't give anyone shit for not playing say a zombie game if they're afraid of it I don't see why it should be different with other themes that can upset people.

I personally understand your friend. I took the game back and told the store that it is a blatantly racist game and a platform for hate messages. I also find it funny that people that have never experienced open racism always try to excuse it away as if it is not real. They say things like Awe I hate the racism wank, and oh black people, (incidentally who have experienced racism, and know what it is) should just get over it. This game in my opinion was meant to trigger hurt, and anger no matter what people choose to say. I was disappointed in bsi and If the developers are responsible because they knew exactly what they were doing. Making a game that they knew would hurt those that have suffered that kind of hate.
