Maybe because they can star in something without derailing the production

Exactly. I don't see the two men in question constantly in the headlines due to their drunken/drug-fueled escapades.

Probably; I know I'd rather hire them than Lindsay Lohan if I was casting some project where they were all up for the main role (I have no idea what said project would be, but hey) because I really don't think I could count on Linday Lohan to show up on time and do a good job.

You also can't get insurance if you hire Lindsay Lohan. Which means, every time she's late to work on your production (and she will be), you and your film company are on the hook for the cost overruns.

MTE. At this point, I don't even think she's capable of working at Subway without derailing the production (of sandwiches).

Best comment.

Pretty much this. If Lohan could still show up and do her damn job (which is, let's face it, one of the easiest, cushiest jobs on the planet) she wouldn't be an international joke. Plenty of actors do this on a regular basis which is why they still have a career despite their wrecked personal lives.

It's sad, but it's not necessarily sexist, if that's what you're getting at.

Assuming you mean acting...eh, no, I disagree. I don't think acting is really easy, I've gotten the impression that it can be pretty emotionally draining, for one thing.

But I agree with everything else you said.

It can be with long hours, but when you do it right, you learn to endure and take your time. Plus, you're always offered paid rest time and help if you need it.

Sure, but even then I feel hesitant to call it "easy." Particularly when with that sort of fame brings with it all of those people waiting to see you fail (and take pictures of it in the process).

I'm sure there's a lot of awesome things about being an actor, too. And admittedly I know very little about how Hollywood works in the grand scheme of things. But I'm really hesitant to look at the work someone else does--particularly when I DON'T know much about it--and go "Oh, but that's an EASY job!" It's no better than thumbing your nose at people that work in fast food IMO. Everybody has difficult stuff in their life.

Very good points! I guess I wouldn't call it easy, either. But it is adaptable and fulfilling work once you make the habit of dedicating yourself to it. When you get to a certain point with hard work, the project becomes easier around your schedule and needs, however. With Lohan, she kind of abused that and treated it with a lack of grace.

I don't mean in anyway to shrug it off passively-- because some actors have my full respect for the shit they put up with for the sake of a project... but some also kind of abuse the perks of it.

That I can agree with! Actors (of that level of fame, anyway) definitely do seem to get away with a loooot on a job that a normal person, well...wouldn't. I mean, if I locked myself in a closet at work and refused to come out...yeah.

It must really suck to be an actor that DOESN'T have those perks...

When you start out, you get none of them. Generally it's the A-Listers who have to be pampered to make them feel like their presence onset is appreciated and worth while. It's almost insulting when someone takes advantage and acts like a brat.
