Women have always had higher expectations placed on them than men have. It's sad, but I don't see this going away any time soon.

Whilst this is true, this is a very poor example to use.

The problem with Lindsay Lohan is centrally that she doesn't do what she's hired for, and fucks things up in an expensive way.

But how much of that profitability was because he was from Hollywood Royalty and male? I mean, he's still getting starring roles, and I haven't seen Lindsay Lohan in anything except Glee for about .2 seconds.

Charlie Sheen is actually less troublesome overall.

He's also not really getting starring roles in big pictures. In fact, the biggest thing is something they're both starring in: Scary Movie 5.

But everyone loves and adores him and wears stupid t-shirts that say winning

"Everyone" is a raging (and unfounded) generalization.

It was an exaggeration. I was saying that there are still a lot of people, from where I stand, that laugh with Charlie Sheen. When it comes to Lindsay Lohan "everyone" laughs at her.

I think she's a poor example for this secret either way.

She's not a poor example if the secret is ABOUT HER and not some statement on gender in Hollywood. Ever think maybe the men are a poor example for comparison?

Are you the OP? Because if you aren't, then you shoving your interpretation on how this secret is read down my throat is irrelevant and unnecessary.

The "winning" thing isn't necessarily in support of him. He started it, but it's a meme now, and usually used sarcastically for when someone fails at something.

Honestly, dude, he's basically the butt of jokes to nearly the same extent that Lindsay Lohan is. They are nearly perfectly opposite gender analogues of one another, both in terms of personal behavior and public reaction to said behavior (that reaction amounting to pointed mockery).

I've never seen anyone say they love him. Most people really don't like him, and just make fun of him.

They are laughing *AT* him.

They're still making Scary Movies? I thought the 3rd was the last one....

The last I heard of Charlie Sheen (and I go out of my way to avoid him, so there I might have missed stuff), he had a lead role in a television show. Or am I just oblivious?

He got fired from that a couple years ago for being a mess.

Now he has another one, playing essentially the same character in a different circumstance.

Well, that's disheartening. Although I'm glad he's far enough off my radar that I wasn't aware of that until now!

She was also hired to appear on that show, however. (I'm not sure what the size of her role is.)

True, but this isn't what's happened to Lohan. The high expectations here is that she shows up and does whatever acting role she's managed to land. If a guy can't do that, he's not going to get hired, either.
