Let's forget about him stabbing the pregnant woman.

Are people really going to defend the guy forcing the two men to kill each other over the piece of bread? Because that I'm pretty sure wasn't meant to approved by the viewer.

Well, no, that wasn't anyone's shining moment of morality, and the show definitely doesn't frame it as such. However, as I said in my comment above, I don't think anybody, if given power and control over people who previously held it over you (generally) and owned you in every way, that they'd do any differently.

Editing to add that no, I don't think it's okay, and no I'm not defending, but I understand why the Rebels have acted like they did. If nothing else it's a nice parallel in how they're turning into the people they hate so much, perhaps even worse.

I think it was a sad, horrible moment but at the same time I liked that the writers didn't try to make us believe that all the slaves were gentlemen. Crixus wasn't always a nice man; he was a bully when we met him, so full of shit and brainwashed. They're people with flaws who make mistakes.

The world has been anything but brutal to them, so I can understand why they're being brutal too. Crixus played games with the Romans prisoners, the Romans played games with their prisoners and iirc, historical Spartacus did the same too. If I have to hate Crixus for that, then I'll have to hate most of them.

I hated that too. I was upset with a lot of the rebels this season but I think it's good the show didn't shy away from the fact that both sides had faults and neither side was entirely innocent.
