Is it really a fetish if it's non-sexual? Can't it just be a thing-you-like

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/fetish

Maybe OP just has an unquestioning reverence for feet

(Anonymous) 2013-04-06 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
No, OP thinks feet have magical potency

(Anonymous) 2013-04-06 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps they mean the thing isn't sexual but it gets a sexual response out of them.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-06 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
...that's not a thing. You just find feet appealing. You don't have to label it.

You tried too hard. 0/10

Isn't the definition of fetish something sexual? I know what you're talking about, I have some of my own, but I don't think that's the right word for it. Anyone know what the term is?

No. Traditionally, fetish means a particular sort of obsession.
feathercircle: Cartoonish octopus with animated sparkles. Text: Silly biped... (humans are amusing)

I've just heard it called "having a thing for X", but I guess that's not exactly a term.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-25 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure if there is a general meaning for the word, but what they currently teach in psychology as Fetish is a sexual disorder where a certain non-sexual stimuli is needed in order to reach orgasm for the individual that has it.

I'm oddly distracted by the fact that that scene implies the Doctor doesn't wear socks.

Why wouldn't he wear socks? Wouldn't he get blisters? Or do clothes serve a purely aesthetic purpose for him? Maybe One saw humans wearing human clothes while trawling around with Susan and was like "OMG THIS SPECIES IS SO COOL LEMME COPY THIS VICTORIAN DUDE'S SWEET FROCK COATS AND WAISTCOATS DAMN I LOOK GOOD" and ditched his hideous Time Lord robes and kept making copies of human clothes that he remembered seeing to wear regeneration after regeneration depending on his preference without ever realizing that socks are A Thing. Maybe he doesn't wear underwear either.

I'm not sure where I was going with this comment...

This explains a lot about how the Doctor dresses.

OMG, YES. That Doctor Who episode just about killed me because TEN'S FEET. I just got SO excited and am totally ashamed to admit that I had the sight of his toes on screen (love that pause button) for longer than is probably healthy. I normally don't have an attraction to feet-- it's really not a sexual thing, honestly-- but when it comes to guys who I'm attracted to, I become SO interested in what their feet look like. And if they end up having pretty toes? GUH.

So yeah, that episode made me SO happy.

O!P: Ditto to everything you said :)

Ahaha, Ten looks a little concerned about this. For some reason that really cracks me up. XD

(Anonymous) 2013-04-07 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Nothing to be ashamed about, I really like hands.

By the way, which episode is this? Ten looks kind of nervous.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-07 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Smith and Jones, if I remember the title correctly. It's Martha's first episode, which is series 3 episode 1 (sometimes listed as episode 2 with The Runaway Bride Christmas special being listed as episode 1)

(Anonymous) 2013-04-07 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
Damn, Sherlock's practically got fingers on his feet!

(Anonymous) 2013-04-07 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
That's not Sherlock, that's some mediocre actor in a role that shouldn't be allowed to be called Sherlock.
