But how about if the writer WANTS to write the ship, but the people above wouldn't let him because it's a gay pairing?

That wouldn't have anything to do with the fanbase, would it? Unless I'm mistaken, the OP is complaining about fans who use those issues as an excuse to try and railroad writers into making their super special snowflake slash OTPs canon. Not the same as a writer being shot down by TPTB.

How VERY DARE YOU point out that writers change their content for bad reasons more often than good ones. How are we supposed to enjoy complaining about girls if you do that?
