I just can see how the suit/hair combo, plus her height, causes some people to automatically think 'androgynous' and therefore choose her as an example of that though. It's a bit like people thinking that her and Dolph Lundgren were both gay and presented themselves as having a relationship with each other to disguise it: her appearance short-cuts to 'lesbian' for some people too.
Of course, it's nonsense, but some people have particular ideas (often through fashion and media) that certain words or looks denote something that they actually don't.

Sometimes presenting as a man =/= androgynous, and lots of people who present as female or who are female don't feel comfortable in women's clothing
We're also forgetting the fact that it was very en vogue for women to wear menswear in the eighties
(And yeah I haven't seen what she looks like lately or really heard anything about her recently)
