As with anything else, there is a line that should most times not be crossed. Simply saying "Hey, it'd be cool if this was canon and there was more LBGT* representation!" is cool. And true. But screaming at creators and throwing your naked fanart at them is... well... creepy as fuck, to be blunt.

There should be more representation. I'm sure it would be cool if some people's OTP were canon but there are reasonable not batshit ways to say this that don't involve harassing the creative staff or actors.
