The "gay marriage is important because of your gay OTP" thing is goofy, but I actually don't see why it's necessarily bad.

I mean, who gives a fuck WHY people support marriage equality, so long as they do?

And I'm pretty damn sure that the VAST majority of people who say things like that are being ironic (as hipster as that sounds).
