Re: Foods you heard about in a book/movie and just had to try

Butterbeer. I'm not in HP fandom but it always sounded so good to me when I read the books. I went to Universal Studios and they have carts everywhere selling it; it is exactly how I expected it to be :)

I've always wanted to try butter beer, but I've been too lazy to make any on my own. I kind of imagine it would taste like butterscotch for some reason. Yes/no?

Kinda yes but kinda no. It's really hard to explain. It's rich and creamy and buttery and kinda butterscotch-ish but kinda not. I've never made my own or even looked up recipes for it, so I can't really say how homemade would compare to what they serve at Universal Studios.

That might be a nice project for me for next weekend if the weather is nice :)

The grocery store near me has butterscotch soda that is clearly trying to market itself as Butterbeer as best it can without infringing on any trademarks. I'll have to try it!

A friend of mine made this! It was really rich and butterscotch-y if I remember correctly. I liked it. :D
