I think there's more going on here than movies. And I really find it hard to believe that in the 21st first century people still feel like there's an expiry date on fun, creativity, imagination and fandom.

I think OP is in a darker place if they're feeling "shame" over doing an everyday activity that people do all over the world.

Though I do have to ask why, at 30, you haven't been shamed into marriage and children of your own to take.
