Your impression is accurate - more and more, it's becoming expected that you should be "switched on" all the time with social media and talking about yourself and divulging all this information.

I'm not comfortable with that, and I resent being forced to compromise my privacy in order to fit in. It would be so, so easy to stalk someone these days.

But apart from not divulging obvious personal information, I'm not sure how to protect my privacy. Knowledge is power; and I suspect in the future a great deal of power will rest with those who know the most about technology.
