Eh. I think a gut feeling is enough "real basis" for something like this. It's just headcanon, after all. A personal interpretation for your own entertainment.

And it's not like people need "real basis" to assume someone is straight but I digress.

This was pretty much my first thought - you're only saying "no real basis" because most headcanon'd orientations are of the not straight variety. The default is straight, and apparently that needs no "real basis," but you've apparently gotta have ~reasons~ behind thinking somebody isn't! Blah. Non-heteronormative people don't actually need reasons, basis, or evidence for being so, so why do headcanons? Sometimes people just are.

Twelve year olds can't be gay? Or it's inappropriate to have that kind of headcanon about a twelve year old character because you think homosexuality is solely about issues too adult for younger children? Or there's sexual motivation for your headcanon of his orientation?

The author actually said it was partly inspired by FLCL. It's pretty obvious when you look at Max's father or Suzi.

I think it's interesting. He goes against some tropes on purpose (The main character has the most common spectral color, he isn't special, he can't fight, he does parkour, etc)

I started reading the comic because of that Starchman secret not too long back and regret nothing. It's cute, pretty clever in places, and has nice art, and that's pretty much all I need! ...Though I was a little disappointed that it didn't have a big archive for me to get through before I caught up.

Well, don't we all make headcannons about some things, however weird and inconsiquential it would look like to outsiders?

But I'm just not seeing it in Issac. To me, he's just a 12 year old boy at the end of his rope who will snap and do something in the next few chapters if his treatment continues in the comic.

I don't really see why his age makes this a secret. I realized I liked other guys when I was in elementary school, I must have been something like 8 years old. Had the biggest crush on my friend Mike. I came out to my Mom and Dad in a letter when I was 13, so, yeah.
