Or, in my opinion, they haven't bothered to even read the plot (or a synopsis, even) of Bioshock Infinite and are all too eager to wank about it.

I've seen some of that, but I've seen a lot of people on the tumblr tag that have played the game and were really upset about the Vox. some said shooting the Vox was like "shooting myself" for example.
