I never thought they wore glitter nail polish. I think it's just how their nails look during their transformation. I think after all that bright shinning light, the nail polish looks like an opaque color. But I guess that doesn't matter. As long as you're having fun looking like a senshi!

This. I always thought the glitter was just during the transformation period. Their nails looks unsparkly when they're not transforming.

It's a little time consuming, but try the foil method of removal:

Cut aluminum foil into 10 strips. Strips should be a couple inches wide.

This is easier to do one hand at a time. Soak a cotton ball in nail polish remover (I recommend acetone removers). Center the cotton ball over your nail and then wrap the aluminum foil tightly around your finger, pinching the open end closed. Wait 3-5 minutes. Put your thumb on the cotton ball through the aluminum foil, press down slightly and pull in a single squeezing gesture. All (or 99%) of the nail polish should come off with the cotton ball. If it doesn't all come off, what's left should clean up WAY more easily.

Just came into this thread to recommend the foil method, but I see you've done it first!

Alternatively, you can try the peel-off base. I haven't had any luck with it, but some bloggers use it with great success under their glitter-bombs.

Make sure to wear gloves over your nail polish!

I LOVE glitter nail polish and can never stop looking at my nails when I wear it.

(Then again I've always been a fan of shiny things.)

It is a pain to get off though, yea.

(Do you know about the tin foil nail polish remover trick? If not you should Google it. It isn't perfect, but sometimes it can be very effective.)

This! Also, if you have problems with being messy with application, get elmers glue, put it on the skin around your nails and when the polish is dry, peel it up. Perfect!

Wearing gloves after doing your nails always came off as redundant to me. But what would I know.

This was my thought, lol. I'm a Venus cosplayer and I don't bother with my nails.

I always liked the headcanon that it was a way to prove that they were still in their powered-up forms while attending diplomatic meetings. Like, if they needed to wear civilian clothes, that was the clue to look for to see if they were bullshitting you when they said "Oh no, if things get aggressive we don't have any capability to handle it."

For real though, it was to sell nail polish. The Inner Senshi wands were sold with nail polish, and the Outer Senshi wands were sold with lipstick: note how the Outer Senshi transformations ended with ~magical lip gloss application~.

According to my glittery nail polish, right now I'm channeling Sailor Venus.

If I could find decent glitter nail polish, I would buy them for this reason.

I binged on a whole bunch of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Nail Polish that were suspiciously Sailor Moon themed. Alas, they were probably Fall or Winter collections.

I do this, lmao. I was channeling Sailor Mercury the last time I put on nail polish. I had a great time with it for a week until I took it off so I can work with my artsy stuff again. X33

Excuse you, glitter nail polish is not gaudy. I don't know what kind you buy, but all my polishes from Zoya are the epitome of class and awesome.

But y'all, I got this set of sailor senshi themed glitter polished for nondenominational winter holiday this year and THEY MAKE ME FEEL SO POWERFUL AND GIRLY!

I was going to make this exact secret myself, more or less.

I cannot tell a lie OP, when my Senshi cosplay troupe goes to a con, we always do our nails, even given the fact that the gloves will go over it most times. If anyone asks, it's because we're in our costumes all day, but there are times when I want to take off the gloves (eating, sitting around, etc), and that way we'll still be in character. Mostly, though, we're just satisfying this exact feeling. We also dont use nail polish with glitter in them - there are plenty of sparkly nail polishes that don't have glitter in them (though, I admit, they're a bit more expensive).

BUT WHY DO THEY BOTHER THEY WEAR GLOVES

This has always bugged me.
