How was having Lady killed protecting her children?

Because sooner or later there would have been another fight between the kids and the wolves would have interfered.

She's a direwolf. It's not the same thing as you or me having a regular wolf as a pet; they're more intelligent.

If Cersei was only concerned about Joffrey, and wasn't trying to be spiteful or punish the Stark children, all she had to do was tell him to not attack them with swords anymore.

She did it because Nymeria was missing and Cersei wanted her pound of flesh. That's it.

Yea, I'm not buying it. She was a straight up bitch and she knew her son was lying. There's no way anyone there could believe otherwise with the way Sansa was so obviously afraid to give her story. Had Joffrey's story been true, Sansa would have said it out flat cuz she was besotted with Joffrey and Cersei knew that.

Killing Lady in place of Nymeria served no other purpose than to be mean. Saying that it was to protect Joffrey would be akin to her wanting one of the brothers whipped had Arya not come back just because Arya attacked Joffrey. She had no reason to kill the wolf. She was just being cruel to children.

Y'know what you're implying right now? That Cersei is a better parent than Eddard and Catelyn. Because they trusted the wolves with the kids.

You're even more deluded than Cersei is.

It was good judgement to let the children have the direwolves because if they didn't the assassin would have killed Bran when he was in the coma.

Eddard wasn't a good parent though. Especially not when it came to his girls. And I'm pretty sure Cat wasn't thrilled about the idea in the books.

I have to say, I am not a huge Cersei fan, but I always found her being villanized for saying maybe kinds shouldn't be playing with wolves a bit much!

No, she was villanized for having an innocent animal killed because another animal bit her sociopathic son when he was trying to attack a little girl.

The Starks' direwolves are more like giant dogs than they are like wolves, anyway. Most wolves wouldn't sleep with or protect little children like they do.

Before that ever happened, she's like this big ogre for saying, "THAT WOLF MIGHT HAVE HURT MY KID." I mean, it's in the child's POV, blah blah blah, I just thought it was really weird that the narrative seemed to think it was this unreasonable thing.

How is she supposed to know that though? She's not from the north. She wouldn't know about direwolves, or those wolves in particular. All she sees is 'dangerous, wild animal' which, let's face it, is what most people would see, especially if they had their children around.

I still think she's an asshole for having Lady killed, but I still don't think she thought "oh yay, innocent completely tame wolf, let's kill it".

Even when the biting is a perfectly natural, expected reaction for a dog to have to being hurt by a human child, people still frequently want them euthanized.

*(Nobody sees someone with a wolf, bear, lion, wtfever, and thinks "Oh gee I bet that's a safe super-tame special wild animal that would never attack anyone"

And why did Cersei want to have Lady's pelt after she was killed? She was being cruel and spiteful, not because she thought Lady was a wild and dangerous animal.

The secret was talking about most of the horrible things she's done is so "she can mantain what little power she has and keep her children safe." Having Bran pushed out the window (and it was Jaime who pushed him out, not her) would fall under that; he saw them having sex, and if he told anyone it would destroy them and their children.

But her having Lady killed was just being cruel.
